The Girl Effect

I cried when I watched this... because this is where my heart is right now... I have a couple of things going on behind the scenes... and those things are very much in the spirit of this video.

My projects will involve you because changing the world is more than I can handle on my own. Changing the world? Yeah... seriously. It's not a special super power... but it is magical. Wanna help me?

Stick around.

That is BRILLIANT. I'll make sure to stick around so that I can see how we can help. Thanks for sharing the video, my friend.

Fondly,

This made me cry. This also made me decide what I'm doing with a few extra bucks I won't waste on Christmas gifts that some of my family doesn't need. REALLY well done video. I found you on Twitter, by the way. I'm going to post the youtube video on my blog also. I know you won't mind.
Fantastic.

I have seen that before and it still made me cry.

Briliant.

Wow, I've only read the first three entries on this page and your blog is by far my favourite of all I read and have read since I started to in July.

My mom used to work with a firm that contracted to the World Bank and the State Department doing Int'l Development work in third world contries. Not just giving food but doing actual agricultural development and fisheries - teaching sustainable practices, desalination, family planning (and prevention). One of her pet projects was with WID, Women in development, giving women skills so that they can create wares to sell and things of that sort.

She's retired now, at 74 but I'm so proud of the work she's done. My toddler is two and I want to show him by example that we can change the world, one person, one village at a time.
