Magic 8 Ball Resolutions: 2009

Resolutions. What would we do without them? We could just pretend that we don’t have any specific intentions for the New Year. Or we could just list our goals and hope that we don’t jinx them by calling them resolutions.

Or… we could ask the Magic 8 Ball to predict the likelihood of hitting that goal. If it’s a negative response, well, hey! Check that off and move on!

Here are mine:

Will I get my pilot’s license this year?

It is decidedly so.

Will I complete my photojournalist project on “real women” this year?

Without a doubt.

Will I be on Sirius Satellite Radio this year?

Don’t count on it.

Haha… well, two out of three isn’t bad. Doesn’t mean I won’t work towards that goal… just might happen in early 2010!

Obviously, this is just for fun and while I don’t recommend basing life’s big decisions on the answers from a toy, it is interesting to see the answer. So, if you’re game, play along. Frame your resolution in the form of a question and click on the 8 Ball in the sidebar. Let us know what the outcome was in the comments section!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

LOL! Ah, now I remember why I don't do resolutions in the first place.
1. Will I be able to keep up a workout routine? "The answer is no."
2. Will I be published in 2009? "Cannot predict now."
Well, thanks Magic 8 Ball. Now I have to do actual work. Myself. Sheesh. ;)

Never thought to use the magic 8 ball. That may save me from some effort this year! Thanks for sharing a great idea. Happy New Year.

I sorta cheated. I clicked the 8 ball first (You can rely on it), then decided to make a resolution:

I will spend more time on my blogs and other blogs this year (and a teeny bit less on Twitter).

There! First resolution is in the bag.

So...I asked the magic 8 ball one burning question so far: Will I get that book deal on 2009.

"Better not tell"

Know what? That's the best response cause so long as it burns, I'll keep pushing towards my goal.

Dangle that book deal, Magic 8 Ball, dangle it!

1. Will I lose the weight that I want to lose this year?
"Better not tell you."
2. Will I be able to go to BlogHer '09 this year?
"Yes."

First one, I'm going to MAKE happen.
Second one... is going to take a miracle!

Sugar, this is hilarious! I asked if I will become less snarky in the upcoming year. "My sources say no." Oh those sources!

Will I successfully utilize my iPhone for organizational purposes? "Yes"

Should I even try to be more purposeful in my prayer life? "Most decidedly so."

Should I add SugarJones to my regular blog reads? "My reply is no."

I dunno, darlin'. I say we toss the stinkin' ball out the window.

Happy New Year Sugar!

Ya know your ball took a little warming up before it gave me some good answers :)

Thanks Sugar!! Too funny.

1. Will I be able to lose 6 pounds a month? "Yes, definately."
2. Will I be able to supplement my income with money earned blogging? "Yes, definately."
Sounds good to me!

Happy New year. Heard you on the Classy Closet show...great! This was fun even though the answer to my question was really negative (LOL). Thank goodness it is just a toy (let's hope)

will I lose some weight this year?

Magic 8 ball says no, but

will my business survive the cpsia debaucle?

decidedly so

I'm afraid to ask anything else, LOL!

Wow... the 8 Ball is wise. Will I lose weight? No. Will I be a paid writer. Outlook not so good.

But, I own a sarcastic ball who said "go away" to question one and "fat chance" to question two. So, I guess I prefer the 8 ball's rejection.

Our 8 Ball broke. That's probably not a good sign! ha.

Have a Happy New Year!!! I've enjoyed getting to know you via twitter. Looking forward to more fun in 2009.

I just noticed you had an 8 ball on your site! Oh crap. It said I wouldn't loose 5 lbs. Bummer! Maybe I'll ask it about 10... it better say yes...

Haha, your widget broke my heart!

Will I find which direction I want to head in within this year?

It is decidedly so.

Will I be successful in whatever career I decide to pursue?

Without a doubt.

Will I get an iPod touch for my birthday next week?

As I see it, yes.

Will I meet my true love within the next two years?

Don't count on it.

Will whoever I fall in love with, love me back?

My reply is no.

Heheh, well that was fun! Guess I won't be dating for a while. ;)

Happy New Year!

This was a fun idea so I downloaded an 8 ball app to my iphone and gave it a go. I got good answers to all my serious answers (no nos) so thought I'd test it out on a silly one: Will I run out of toilet paper this year?
I got "concentrate harder then try again"
So I did and "my sources tell me no".
Looks like I'm in for a good year!

I need to find a man like your magic 8 ball...it kept telling me exactly what I wanted to hear lol.

Happy New Years to you sugar plum.

Glad the past year brought you into my life...even if it is only via the web...when you're not cracking me up you're making me think with your insights about the world. May the new year bring us both happiness and a sense of balance b/t our marthas, marys and the million other roles we play. xo

How fun! My Q&A:

Q: Will I make $ doing what I love this year?
A: Ask again later.

Q: Will I be published this year?
A: You may rely on it.

Q: Will I ever look good in a bikini?
A: Very doubtful.

Looks like everything is in working order to me--lol!

If only it were that easy. Miss my New years questions as a teenager. Will Rich ask me out? Will I get a new pair of Sergio Valente?

Ok, so I asked the 8 ball," Will I get organized?" Looks like I'm off to a great start! I will now go rid myself of all unnecessary papers!

Seriously serious about Sirius, huh? I'm sure you'll do it! Screw that 8 ball!!!

I do like the '8 ball', it played nicely.

Me: Will I finish my book?
8-ball:Without a doubt.
Me: Will I achieve my goals this year?
8-ball:It is certain.
Me: Will I publish my book?
Yes - certinly.

I looove the 8 ball... sigh

Me, as an afterthought: Should I trust God more than the answers from the 8-ball? (Ok I know the answer, don't freak)
8-ball:Signs point to Yes.

We agree then.

Okay, your damn ball just depressed the heck out of me. Maybe I should have asked it if I need my Prozac upped LOL

In all seriousness, that is cute! Good idea, Shug!

Ha, ha, way to rely on a certain predictor of the future!
